Wrestlers complete at Brute/Adidas Augsburg Open

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (Blugolds.com)- The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team headed to Minneapolis Saturday to compete in the Brute/Adidas Augsburg Open. A number of wrestlers found success, collecting multiple wins on the day.

Results

Nathaniel Behnke (Sr.-Bruce, WI) finished the day with three wins and taking second place in the 141-pound weight class. In the opening round Behnke defeated Colby McIntire of Minnesota State Mankato by fall (4:04). Behnke also got victories over Brian Burchett of Luther College with a 2-1 decision and a semifinal 11-4 decision over Justin Haneke of Southwest Minnesota State.

Zackary Sirny (Jr.-Wild Rose, WI) finished in fourth place in the 125 pound weight class with wins over Jake Hergott of Northwestern (Iowa) with a 10-3 decision and over Garrett Wangsness of Upper Iowa with a 4-2 decision.

Also finishing in fourth place was Justin Karkula (Jr.-Oshkosh, WI) Karkula notched wins over Chase Nottestad of Rochester Community and Technical College by a 7-3 decision and also over Malcolm Allen of Minnesota State Mankato.

The Blugolds return to action for the team's first home match November 24 vs. Luther College.
