CONCORDIA, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team fell in their first dual of the season, coming up just short to Concordia (Wis.) 23-19 on Friday.
Competing at the Wisconsin Wrestling Coaches Association, four Blugolds tallied victories. Zackary Sirny (Jr.-Wild Rose, WI) defeated Kameron Bourgeois by fall (6:49) at 125 pounds while Nathaniel Behnke (Sr.-Bruce, WI) defeated Joshua Curcio by major decision (14-2) at 141.
Matthew Laugen (Jr.-Fergus Falls, MN/Kennedy) earned a 4-0 decision over Mitchell Slatton at 184 and Justin Karkula (Jr.-Oshkosh, WI/West) tallied the final Blugold win at 285, defeating Sam Olsen by fall (1:32).
The Blugolds will be back in action Thursday, Nov. 12 as UW-Eau Claire travels to Northfield, Minn. for a dual with St. Olaf College.
