WHEATON, Ill. (blugolds.com)- The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team traveled to Wheaton College this Saturday for the Pete Willson Wheaton Invitational, scoring 20 points in a three-way tie for 21st place with Chicago and Pacific University.
Ryan Behnke (So. Bruce, Wis.) was the only Blugold to place, finishing sixth at 165 pounds.
Behnke won his first match by decision, 10-6. In the second and third round he won by a major decision 13-4 and decision 7-5. Behnke won by forfeit in the third round against No. 3 Terner Gott from John Carroll University and won again in the quarter-finals. In the semi-finals Behnke lost by decision, a close 5-3.
In the 157 weight class Robert Rocole (So. Lakewood, Wis.) advanced to the second round after winning by fall at 1:38 in the second round.
The Blugolds will host the Don Parker open next weekend, Saturday, February 7th at 9 a.m.
