Behnke Leads Blugold Wrestlers at UW-La Crosse Duals

LA CROSSE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – Competing at UW-La Crosse's Candlewood Suite Duals, Nathaniel Behnke (So.-Bruce, Wis.) went undefeated to lead the UW-Eau Claire wrestling team.

Wrestling at 141 pounds, where he is ranked No. 6 in the nation, Behnke won two matches with major decisions while winning once by forfeit to finish 3-0 on the day. Behnke opened the day with a 9-1 win over Cornell's Samuel Chalkley and then won by forfeit against Loras. He ended the day with a 9-0 victory over Southwest Minnesota State's Ethan Hildebrandt. Behnke now holds a 15-2 overall record this season and has won seven straight matches.

Ryan Seidler (Sr.-Adams, Wis./Adams-Friendship) won two out of three matches today, competing at 149 pounds. He opened the day with a loss against Cornell but followed with a 3-1 overtime win over Loras' Colin Griffin. In the final match of the day against Southwest Minnesota State's Beau Buysee, he won 7-1.

As a team, the Blugolds fell three times. They lost 31-13 to No. 25 Cornell College (Iowa), 31-15 to No. 22 Loras College (Iowa) and 33-10 to Southwest Minnesota State.

Eau Claire is now 0-6 overall this season.

The Blugolds will be home Wednesday for a conference dual against 14th-ranked UW-Whitewater. Action in the McPhee Physical Education Center will get underway at 7 p.m.
