PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – Four UW-Eau Claire wrestlers earned wins as the Blugolds fell 29-16 at UW-Platteville tonight.
Down 12-0 after forfeiting the first two weight classes, the Blugolds got their first points from Nathaniel Behnke (So.-Bruce, Wis.) after he won by forfeit at 141 pounds.
The Blugolds then closed to within two points (12-10) after Ryan Seidler (Sr.-Adams, Wis./Adams-Friendship) won with a major decision, 13-3, at 149 pounds. But Platteville then won three straight to get up 25-10.
Josh Cormican (Fr.-Boyceville, Wis.) won 8-2 at 184 pounds while Luke Ortscheid (Sr.-Wausau, Wis./West) followed with a 3-1 overtime victory at 197 pounds to give the Blugolds 16 points.
Eau Claire drops to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in WIAC duals while Platteville improves to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in WIAC dual.
Saturday the Blugolds will be in La Crosse for the Candlewood Suites Duals, hosted by UW-La Crosse. Eau Claire will face three different teams beginning at 9 a.m.
