Eau Claire, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey team completed their weekend series against Concordia-Moorhead (Minn.) on Saturday at Hobbs Ice Arena. Despite trailing twice early in the game, the Blugolds answered with a 4-3 victory.

Box Score

The first two periods saw a balanced back and forth game between the two teams. After giving up the first goal halfway through the opening frame, the Blugolds would answer just minutes later to tie things at one. Elizabeth Bauer (Sr. – Wausau, WI/East) would open the scoring for Eau Claire after rifling a shot from the slot to beat the Cobber goalie up high to bring things even.

In the second period, much of the game was mirrored from the first. Concordia-Moorhead would break the tie early in the middle frame, but it wouldn't last long after Bauer tallied her second goal of the game from the slot.

With the teams tied heading into the final frame, it would be the Blugolds to open the period scoring for their first lead of the contest. Ella Ierino (So. – Duluth, MN) would beat the Cobber goaltender with a side angle shot to make it 3-2.

Later that period, Sydney Hendricks (Fr. – Hudson, WI) would score her first goal as a Blugold after knocking home a rebound in front. Eau Claire would hang on to the 4-3 win.

Goaltender Erin Connolly (Sr. – Mequon, WI/Homestead) would stop 15 of the 18 shots she faced on her way to her eighth win of the season. Connolly improves her record to 8-1-1 on the season.

The Blugolds will take the rest of 2019 off to celebrate the holidays and will resume action at Hobbs Ice Arena on Friday, January 3rd when the host an exhibition game against the Chinese National Team.
