Blugolds skate past Foresters to earn 10th win

LAKE FOREST, Ill (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey team returned to Lake Forest College in game two of the weekend, coming back home with a 2-1 win.

It was a physical game from the start and the Blugolds would take advantage of an early powerplay as Kelly Knetter (Sr. – Wausau, WI/West) would light the lamp off assists from Monica Sjodin (Sr. – Anoka, MN) and Emily Bauer (Jr. - Wausau, WI/ East) The Foresters would answer right back with a goal making the game even again at 1 to 1.

Coming out strong to start the second period, Eau Claire's Emma Peterson (So-Superior, WI/Superior) came up big with a goal at 5:49 with an assist from Morgan Zirbel (So-Green Bay, WI/Ashwaubenon). The Blugolds maintained control throughout the period and held a 2-1 lead going into the final period.

Eau Claire maintained control during the duration of the third period to come away with a 2-1. The Blugolds outshot the Foresters 47-17 while Erin Connolly (Jr - Mequon, WI/Homestead) saved 16 of the 17 shots she faced.
