Blugolds out-shoot St. Norbert 54-10 in 3-1 victory

EAU CLAIRE, Wis (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey team returned home to face the St. Nobert College Green Knights in a 3-1 win at Hobbs Ice Arena Friday afternoon.

UW-Eau Claire controlled the first period. After the Blugolds kept the action in the Green Knights zone, Lexie Wilson (Sr-Eagan, MN/Eagan) would claim the first goal at 12:07 in the first with assists from Kelli Pritzlaff (Jr-Lakeville, MN/North) and Holly Turnbull (Sr-Hayward, WI/Hayward). At 16:23, Kelly Knetter (Sr-Wausau, WI/West) would blast the puck through the 5-hole of the St. Norbert goalie to put the Blugolds up 2-0. The scoring would not stop there for Eau Claire as Courtney Wittig (Sr-Green Bay, WI/Bay Port) would pop in the third goal for the Blugolds at 18:41, giving the Blugolds a 3-0 lead going in to the second.

Starting the second period, Eau Claire would lead 17-2 in shots. But the Green Knights would pick up their pace and get one on the board with a power play goal closing the Blugold lead. After the St. Norbert goal the Blugolds would then keep the puck in the Green Knights zone. With a scoreless third period, Eau Claire would walk away with 54 shots to St. Norbert's 10 and a 3-1 victory.
