NORTHFIELD, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The No. 10 University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey team scored early and often Wednesday night, beating St. Olaf College 8-0.

The Blugold lit the lamp just 36 seconds into the game as Abby Roeser (So. – Cottage Grove, MN/East Ridge) scored off an assist from Taylor Treu (Fr. – Wausau, WI/West).

Emily Bauer (So. – Wausau, WI/East) added another goal five minutes later with assists from Elizabeth Bauer (So. – Wausau, WI/East) and (Reilly Albert (So. – Duluth, MN/Hermantown) while Holly Turnbull (Jr. – Hayward, WI) recorded her first goal of the night, notching an unassisted goal at 11:03 to give Eau Claire a 3-0 lead after the first period.

The Blugolds picked up where they left off in the second period, scoring four unassisted goals. Morgan Zirbel (Fr. – Green Bay, WI/Ashwaubenon) and Emma Peterson (Fr. – Superior, WI) scored at 2:24 and 2:50 while Jennifer Thomsen (Sr. – Apple Valley, MN) tallied a shorthanded goal at 8:10 and Mariah Czech (Sr. – Andover, MN) joined the scoring party at 9:25. By the end of two periods of play, Eau Claire held a commanding 7-0 lead.

Turnbull found the back of the net for the second time of the night at 5:41 in the third period, thanks to assists from Elizabeth Bauer and Hanna Zavoral (Fr. – St. Paul, MN/Highland Park).

Erin Connolly (Mequon, WI/Homestead) earned the win in goal, recording 11 saves in 40 minutes of play. Carlie Christensen (Sr. – Ellsworth, WI/River Falls) also tallied seven saves in the final 20 minutes. Eau Claire out-shot the Oles 51-18 on the night.
