ST. PAUL, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire women's hockey team took on Hamline University on Friday and fell short 1-0 after hard-fought battle.
The strong Blugold attack out-shot the Pipers 32-19 for the game, including a third period where Eau Claire held a 16-7 shot advantage; however, could not get a goal past Hamline's Jessica Cole.
The Blugold defense held the Pipers scoreless until the third period when Hamline was able to score the game's only goal with 7:04 left in the period.
Paige Turner (Sr.- Iron River, WI/Duluth East) recorded 18 saves for the Blugolds while Lexi Wilson (Fr.-Eagan, Min.) led the team with five shots on goal along with winning 12 faceoff.
Eau Claire (6-7-4) returns to action Tuesday as they travel Northfield, Minn. to take on St. Olaf at 7:30 p.m.
