EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey battled the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) Wednesday night, falling by a score of 1-0.
The Blugolds continue to impress on defense by holding a very potent St. Thomas offense at bay until late in the third period when the Thomies took advantage of a quality opportunity and scored the only goal of the game.
The Tommies' Courtney Umland snuck one past the Eau Claire defense with 6:17 left in the third period and would prove to be the game-winner.
Blugold goalie Paige Turner (Iron River, WI/Duluth East) had a total of 23 saves on the night.
Eau Claire (3-6-3, 1-3-2) will be back in action Friday as they face off against Finlandia University of Michigan (0-9-0, 0-7-0) at 2 p.m.
