EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire women's hockey team fell 3-2 on Saturday afternoon against the University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point during Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play.

Both teams were on fire as they came onto the ice after last night's tie game.

All goals of the game were seen in an aggressive second period. Eau Claire's Lauren Norgren (So.-Fergus Falls, MN) got her third goal of the season as she found the back of the net on a breakaway at 6:10. Stevens Point retaliated just minutes later with two back-to-back goals.

Not long after that, the Blugolds were overwhelmed after the Pointers found the back of the net yet again. Eau Claire found their offensive line and answered back with a goal by Courtney Baugher (Fr.- Crystal Lake, MN/ Chisago Lakes). She was assisted by Maggie Koethe (Fr.-Brooklyn Park, MN/Maranatha Christian Academy) with just 0:27 left in the second period.
Neither team could get their offenses rolling in the third, giving the Pointers the win, 3-2.

Kim Van Brunt (Sr.-Eagle River, WI/Northland Pines) was in goal for the Blugolds and had a total of 30 saves.

Eau Claire's (3-5-3, 1-3-2) next game is on Wednesday night against Minnesota's University of St. Thomas (6-1-1, 4-1-1).
