EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's hockey team had their first tie game of the season on Saturday, skating to a 0-0 tie against St. Catherine's University of Minnesota.
Both Eau Claire and St. Catherine's were off to an aggressive start in the first period. Eau Claire had strong offense, but the neither team could find the back of the net.
The second period didn't see much action, but Eau Claire's Goalie Kim Van Brunt (Sr.-Eagle River,WI/Northland Pines) had two major saves for the Blugolds.
Neither team could muster much offense the remainder of the game or in overtime, ending with a scoreless tie.
Eau Claire dominated with 31 total shots on goal compared to St. Catherine's 17.
Eau Claire (2-1-1) has their next game on Friday, November 13th against UW- Superior (2-1-1). The game starts at 7 p.m. at Hobbs Ice Arena.
