Women's Hockey Skates Past Bethel, 2-1

BLAINE, Min. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Women's Hockey team won their second game of the season on Friday against Bethel with a score of 2-1.

Paige Dale (Jr.-Andover, MN) scored her first goal of the season with 6:08 left in the first period, with an assist by Kelsey Rafferty (So.-De Pere, WI).

Within the first minute of the second period, Mariah Czech (Jr.-Andover, MN) found the back of the net on a power play with assists from Holly Turnbull (Fr.-Hayward, WI) and Sydney Schneider (So.-Chippewa Falls, WI). The game had been penalty-free until the second period, where Eau Claire and Bethel saw a total of seven penalties.

Bethel came back with a goal from a behind-the-net assist during the first minute of the third period. Eau Claire fought back with strong defense for the remainder of the third period to end the game in a score of 2-1.

Goalie Paige Turner (Sr.-Iron River, WI/Duluth East) had a total of 21 saves for the Blugolds.

Eau Claire (2-1-0) has their next game on Saturday against St. Catherine University. The puck drops at 2 p.m. at Hobbs Ice Arena.
