Women’s Hockey Falls to Falcons

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team ran into a red-hot UW-River Falls squad that scored a season-high seven goals in a 7-1 loss here today at Hunt Arena.

The Blugolds fall to 0-7-0 overall and 0-3-0 in conference play while the Falcons improve to 4-2-0 and 2-1-0.  The Falcons are currently ranked sixth in the most recent USCHO.com NCAA Division III National Poll.

River Falls scored the game's first goal with just 15 seconds remaining in the first period scoring off a power play at 19:45 giving the Falcons a 1-0 lead.

After two Falcon goals at 4:22 and 6:26 of the second period Lauren Norgren (Fr.-Fergus Falls, MN) scored her second goal of the season at 8:44 on a Blugold power play assisted by Claudia Gagnon (So.-Duluth, MN/East) and Andi Husted (Sr.-Scottsdale, AZ/Shattuck St. Mary's) cutting the Falcon lead to 3-1.  River Falls added their third goal of the period at 14:13 to regain a three goal lead.

The Falcons added three more goals in the third period to put the game out of reach.

Goalie Paige Turner (Jr.-Iron River, WI/Duluth East) saved 42 shots in 49:45 of action.  Her season record now stands at 0-5-0.  Kim Van Brunt (Jr.-Eagle River, WI/Northland Pines) played the final 10:15 saving five shots.

The Blugolds return to action Saturday, November 22 when they will host the Falcons at Hobbs Ice Center.  Action is set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
