Women's Hockey Falls to Ranked Yellowjackets

SUPERIOR, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team had a tough time against eighth-ranked UW-Superior tonight, falling 5-0 at Wessman Arena.

After a scoreless 14 minutes, Superior got its first goal of the night at 14:10 and added another four seconds before the end of the opening period to take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission. Both came on power-plays.

The Yellowjackets added two more in the second period, one short-handed, and scored another goal with four minutes to play in the final period.

Paige Turner (So.-Iron River, Wis./Duluth East) was busy in-goal tonight as she stopped 41 out of 46 shots. Eau Claire finished the game with a total of 18 shots with Emily Larson (Sr.-Bemidji, Minn.) accumulating a team-high seven.

Eau Claire falls to 3-13-2 overall and 0-6-1 in the conference while Superior improves to 13-2-4 on the season and 3-2-2 in WIAC play.

Tomorrow the two teams will face each other again, this time in Eau Claire. Action will get underway at 2 p.m. at Hobbs Ice Center.
