Women's Hockey Blanked by River Falls

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – Hosting UW-River Falls in a WIAC contest at Hobbs Ice Center, the UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team was unable to score, falling 2-0 to the Falcons tonight.

River Falls scored less than six minutes into the game but neither team would score again until late in the third. The final goal of the game came from the Falcons with less than three minutes left.

The Blugolds were not without opportunities as they took 24 shots and also had eight power-play chances on the night. River Falls led the shot chart with 36 shots and was 1-for-4 on the power-play.

In goal, Paige Turner (So.-Iron River, Wis./Duluth East) played all but 2:22 and stopped 34 Falcon shots. She is now 0-3-2 on the season.

The Blugolds fall to 1-4-2 on the season and 0-2-1 in the WIAC while River Falls goes to 3-3-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the conference.

Saturday the Blugolds will be at UW-River Falls for a game beginning at 7:05 p.m.
