Gymnastics places 8th at WIAC Championship/NCGA West Regional

MENOMONIE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire gymnastics team took eighth place on Saturday at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship/National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) West Regional.

Results

The Blugolds tallied 183.975 points while UW-Stout won the meet with a score of 190.225.

Eau Claire had a strong showing on the floor exercise, with Kiya Bjorge (Sr. - Kennewick, WA/Southridge) and Amelia Moorehouse (Sr. – Gregory, MI/FlexTech) tying for third place as they each scored a 9.750.

Hannah Lewis (Sr. – Saline, MI) tied for seventh on the uneven parallel bars, scoring a 9.475.

On the balance beam, Clare Mascia (Sr. – Woodbury, MN/Convent of the Visitation) led the Blugolds with a ninth place finish (9.475) while  Andrea Gessner (So.- Lino Lakes, MN/Centennial) led Eau Claire on vault with a 9.325 to tie for 16th.

Individuals that qualify the NCGA Championship will be announced early next week. The national meet is March 23 at UW-Oshkosh.
