MENOMONIE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire gymnastics team competed at UW-Stout's John Zuerlein Invitational on Friday night, finishing in third place with a score of 179.175.
UW-Stout won the invite with a score of 186.825 while Hamline University was second with 180.725.
Ashley Benes (So.- Grand Rapids, MN) led Eau Claire on the vault with a third place finish (9.525) and also tallied the highest Blugold finish on the uneven parallel bars with a 9.050 to take sixth place.
Tayla Thome (Fr. – Medina, OH/Buckeye) tied for fifth on the balance beam with a 9.475 while Kiya Bjorge (Sr. - Kennewick, WA/Southridge) was third on the floor exercise.
