Gymnastics downs Titans in home finale

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire gymnastics team hosted their final home meet of the year on Friday night, defeating UW-Oshkosh 185.950-184.675 in the McPhee Center.

Results

Ashley Benes (Fr. – Grand Rapids, MN) and Becca Wilcox (Sr. – Roseville, MN/Cretin-Derham Hall) led the Blugolds on vault, finishing in first and second place with scores of 9.525 and 9.450, respectively.

Hannah Lewis (Jr. – Saline, MI) won the uneven parallel bars, scoring a 9.550. Megan Fayler (So. - Afton, MN/Stillwater) and Lauralynn Anderson (Jr. – West Bend, WI/homeschool) finished in third (9.375) and fourth (9.325).

Amelia Moorehouse (Jr. – Gregory, MI/FlexTech) and Kiya Bjorge (Jr. - Kennewick, WA/Southridge) tied for first on the floor exercise with scores of 9.600 while Tori Erickson (Sr. – Woodbury, MN) was third (9.550).

Clare Mascia (Jr. – Woodbury, MN/Convent of the Visitation) was the top Blugold on the balance beam with a 9.425, taking third place.

In the all-around, Erickson won with a score of 36.900 after finishing third on floor (9.550), fifth on beam (9.275), sixth on vault (9.325) and eighth on bars.

Next up for the Blugolds is the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship/NCGA Regional at St. Peter, Minn., hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College on March 4.
