Gymnastics falls in home-opener

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire gymnastics team hosted UW-Whitewater for their home-opener on Friday night, falling to the Warhawks by a score of 188.175 to 183.500.

Tori Erickson (Sr. – Woodbury, MN) was the top Blugold on the vault, placing third with a 9.525 while Becca Wilcox (Sr. – Roseville, MN/Cretin-Derham Hall) followed in fourth place with a 9.475.

Megan Fayler (So. - Afton, MN/Stillwater) and Hannah Lewis (Jr. – Saline, MI) led the Blugolds on the uneven parallel bars, tying for third with Whitewater's Blaise Wilson with a 9.450.

Eau Claire went 3-4-5 on the balance beam with Clare Mascia (Jr. – Woodbury, MN/Convent of the Visitation) (9.350), Erickson (9.225) and Destiny Cobbs (Sr. - Minnetonka, MN) (9.200).

Erickson collected another third place finish on the floor exercise after scoring a 9.550, tying teammate Kiya Bjorge (Jr. - Kennewick, WA/Southridge) and Warhawk Kate Mierow.

Next week the Blugolds will travel to Menomonie to compete against Stout in their third straight dual. The meet is slated to start at 6 PM.
