Gymnastics takes 5th at WIAC Championships/NCGA West Regional

WINONA, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire gymnastics team competed in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship/National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) West Regional on Friday night, finishing in fifth place.

Results

The Blugolds tallied 186.525 points to take fifth while UW-Whitewater won the meet with a score of 191.850. UW-La Crosse finished second (189.700) and UW-Stout was third (188.750). The top three teams advance to the national championships, which will be held March 31-April 1 and will be hosted by Stout.

Becca Wilcox (Jr. – Roseville, MN/Cretin-Derham Hall) led the Blugolds on the vault, tying for 13th with a score of 9.475.

Megan Fayler (Fr. – Afton, MN/Stillwater) led the way on the uneven parallel bars with a 9.400 to tie for 17th.

Kiya Bjorge (So. – Kennewick, WA/Southridge) tied for ninth on the balance beam with a 9.525 while Lauralynn Anderson (So. – West Bend, WI/homeschool) followed with a 9.500 to take 12th.

Erin Olson (Sr. – Faribault, MN/Shattuck-St. Mary's) was the top Blugold on the floor exercise, tying for 16th with a 9.575.

Tori Erickson (Fr. – Woodbury, MN) was ninth in the all-around, recording a score of 36.075.
