Gymnastics falls just short against Winona State

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's gymnastics team fell just short in the last home dual of the season Friday night, falling to Winona State University 185.200 to 184.875.

In front of a big crowd for Parents/Senior Night, the Blugolds won two events thanks to seniors Erin Olson (Sr. – Faribault, MN/Shattuck-St. Mary's) and Lauren Zurowski (Sr. – Greenfield, WI/Whitnall). Olson led the way on the floor exercise, winning the event with a 9.700 while Zurowski was second with a score of 9.650. Zurowski took top honors on the uneven parallel bars, turning in a winning score of 9.400.

Becca Wilcox (Jr. – Roseville, MN/Cretin-Derham Hall) led Eau Claire on the vault, scoring a 9.425 to tie for second while Tori Erickson (Fr. – Woodbury, MN) was fourth with a score of 9.300.

Clare Mascia (So. – Woodbury, MN/Convent of the Visitation) was the top Blugold on the balance beam, placing third with a 9.425 while Erickson followed in fourth with a 9.400. Erickson also turned in an all-around score of 36.700.

Next up for Eau Claire is the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship/NCGA West Regional Meet, hosted by Winona State on Friday, March 17th.
