Gymnastics wins Blugold Invite

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's gymnastics team turned in a top performance in front of a big crowd in the McPhee Center on Friday night, winning the Blugold Invite with score of 186.300.

Results

The score was the sixth highest in Eau Claire history. UW-Stout was second (185.175) and Gustavus Adolphus was third (184.750).

Megan Fayler (Fr. – Afton, MN/Stillwater) led the Blugolds on the uneven parallel bars, tying for first place with a 9.475. Lauren Zurowski Sr. – Greenfield, WI/Whitnall) was third with a 9.400.

Eau Claire also has a strong finish on the floor exercise, with Erin Olson (Sr. – Faribault, MN/Shattuck-St. Mary's) and Kiya Bjorge (So. – Kennewick, WA/Southridge) placing second and third with scores of 9.650 and 9.525, respectively.

Hannah Wendel (So. – Brandon, MN/Alexandria Area) claimed the highest Blugold score on the balance beam, recording a 9.575 to tie for third. Lauralynn Anderson (So. – West Bend, WI/homeschool) was also fifth (9.550).

On the vault, Becca Wilcox (Jr. – Roseville, MN/Cretin-Derham Hall) led Eau Claire with a 9.375, placing fifth.
