LA CROSSE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's gymnastics team competed at the Gershon Invite in La Crosse on Friday, placing third with a score of 183.750.
UW-La Crosse came out on top with a score of 187.700 and Winona State University (Minn.) placed second at 185.625.
Blugold senior, Julia Stedman (Maplewood, MN/North St. Paul) took second in vault with a score of 9.325 and freshman Clare Mascia (Woodbury, MN) tied for second in beam, scoring 9.625 to lead Eau Claire. Erin Olson (Jr.-Faribault, MN/Shattuck-St. Mary's) also had a strong showing on the beam, tying for fourth with a 9.575.
Liz Stubbs (Sr.-Wayzata, MN) was the top Blugold finisher on the floor exercise, finishing fifth with a 9.450 while Stedman was six with a 9.325. Lauren Zurowski (So.-Greenfield, WI/Whitnall) also tied for fifth on the bars with a score of 9.475.
The Blugolds are on the road again next Friday against UW-Stout at 6:00 p.m.
