
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (Blugolds.com) – Starting the season for the third straight year at NCAA Division I Central Michigan University, the UW-Eau Claire women's gymnastics team came up short 194.450-180.200.
The Chippewas swept at least the top four places in each event today.
Elizabeth Stubbs (So.-Wayzata, Minn.) had the top finish for the Blugolds as she took fifth in the floor exercise with a score of 9.725, tying for the ninth best score in school history.
Three other Blugolds came away with sixth place finishes.
Julia Stedman (So.-Maplewood, Minn./North St. Paul) was sixth on the vault to lead Eau Claire with a mark of 9.425.
On the uneven bars, Leah Robinette (So.-Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge) had the top finish for Eau Claire as she took sixth with a score of 9.050.
Kellie Dougherty (So.-White Bear Lake, Minn.) came away with the best finish for the Blugolds on the balance beam with a score of 9.350, a career-high, to take sixth place.
The Blugolds will be home next Saturday for the UW-Eau Claire Invitational, which will include the Blugolds, UW-Whitewater and Winona State University (Minn.). Action will get underway at noon.
