Skinner named men's and women's golf coach

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire athletics department announced today the hiring of Darrin Skinner as the head men's and women's golf coach.

Skinner, who will begin his coaching duties immediately, played golf for North Dakota State University where he earned his bachelor's degree. Following graduation, he was the assistant golf professional at the PGA National Golf Club and Ridge County Golf Club. More recently, Skinner ran an online golf sales business.

"I would like to thank Athletic Director Dan Schumacher for the opportunity to lead programs with such a rich history," said Skinner. "I also appreciate what Coach [Mike] Greer has done for the program in his tenure along with his willingness to help with the transition. I look forward sharing my knowledge and making an impact on these young men and women."

Skinner replaces Interim Head Coach Mike Greer who stepped down after being promoted to PGA Head Golf Professional at the Eau Claire Golf and Country Club.

The Blugold men will start their spring season April 6-7 at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational at the Ironwood Golf Course in Normal, IL. The women will open the spring season April 14-15 at the Minnesota State Invitational at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids, MN.
