Blugold Women Take 7th at Division III Classic

Lake City, Minn. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Women's golf team put forth a valiant effort Saturday and Sunday at the Division III Classic taking a respectable seventh spot on the leaderboard.

In the first round, Allison Chomniak (Fr. -Pewaukee, WI/Arrowhead) led Eau Claire with a 79, closely behind her was Katie Moore (Jr. -Woodbury, MN/Woodbury) who shot an 81. The Blugolds finished round one with a score of 333 and a fifth place spot out of 17 teams.

In the second round, the Blugolds were unable to cut strokes off their round one team score and finished round two with a score of 340 which dropped them to seventh place and a total score of 673. Although Eau Claire was unable to manage a lower team score, Meghan Lange (So. -Green Bay, WI/Green Bay Southwest) cut nine strokes off of her round one performance with a 84.

Chomniak tied for 12th with an overall score of 161 and Moore finished in a tie for 16th with an overall score of 165. Both Blugolds finished top 20 out of 92 players.

The Blugolds will be back in action on Oct. 3 for the Mad Dawg Invitational at the Stevens Point Country Club in Stevens Point.
