HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire women's golfer Kate Engler (Sr.-Beloit, WI/Turner) has been named to the 2015 Women's Golf Coaches Association Division III All-Region team.

WGCA Division III Awards

Engler also earned medalist honors at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship for the second consecutive year joining fellow Blugolds Katie Mauer (2008, 2009) and Maggie Loney (2004, 2005) as the only women's golfers to accomplish such a feet in conference history.  A three-time All-WIAC first team honoree (2012, 2013, 2014), Engler ranked second with a 78.7 stroke average over 11 rounds.  Engler finished the fall season with four top-10 finishes including medalist honors at the WIAC championships, tying for fourth place at the Division III Classic, tying for fifth place at the Wartburg Fall Invitational and tying for eighth place at the UW-Whitewater Fall Invitational.

Engler, who was named to the second team this season, was honorably mentioned as an All-American last season. This year she led the Blugolds with an average of 78.3 strokes per round, golfing a total of 18 rounds at nine different events. She finished in the top five seven times and won three tournaments.

Last fall Engler became the fourth individual in program history to claim the WIAC Player of the Year plaque, joining Jennifer Prock (2002), Maggie Loney (2004 and 2005) and Sara Mattes (2010). She earned first team All-WIAC accolades for the second straight year after receiving second team laurels in 2011. At the WIAC Championship last fall she claimed medalist honors after finishing the three-round championship with 231 strokes, nine better than the second-place finisher.
