Kate Engler Named WGCA All-American

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire women's golfer Kate Engler (Jr.-Beloit, Wis./F.J. Turner) has been named to the 2014 Women's Golf Coaches Association Division III All-American team, the organization announced today.

Engler, who was named to the second team this season, was honorably mentioned as an All-American last season. This year she led the Blugolds with an average of 78.3 strokes per round, golfing a total of 18 rounds at nine different events. She finished in the top five seven times and won three tournaments.

Last fall Engler became the fourth individual in program history to claim the WIAC Player of the Year plaque, joining Jennifer Prock (2002), Maggie Loney (2004 and 2005) and Sara Mattes (2010). She earned first team All-WIAC accolades for the second straight year after receiving second team laurels in 2011. At the WIAC Championship last fall she claimed medalist honors after finishing the three-round championship with 231 strokes, nine better than the second-place finisher

She was also named to the All-Central region team.
