Women's Golf Finishes Fifth at Home Invite

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team completed its two-day 2013 Doug Georgianni Memorial Invitational in fifth place out of 14 teams at Wild Ridge Golf Course today.

The Blugolds shot 332 today after finishing with 335 yesterday at Mill Run Golf Course for a two-round total of 667.

University of St. Thomas (Minn.) took first place with 652 strokes while Carleton College (Minn.) was second with 654.

Kate Engler (Jr.-Beloit, Wis./F.J. Turner) led 10 Blugold golfers as she tied for fourth place with 160 strokes. UW-Stout's Brit McNett-Emmerich won the tournament with 157 strokes. A total of 83 golfers participated in this year's event.

The Blugolds also had two others finish in the top 20 with Lauren Gaffney (So.-Portage, Wis.) and Emily Stone (Jr.-Eden Prairie, Minn.) tying for 18th place with 167 strokes.

Leading a second Blugold team, which came in 10th place in the team standings, was Katy Bolduc (Fr.-Lake City, Minn./Lincoln). She tied for 21st overall with 169 strokes.

Next weekend the Blugolds will compete at the Wartburg Invitational in Waverly, Iowa at Centennial Oaks Golf Club. The tournament will get underway Saturday and conclude Sunday.
