EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's basketball team lost their seventh straight on Saturday afternoon, falling to No. 25-ranked UW-La Crosse, 62-50.
The Blugolds trailed by only six at half, but were unable to stop the Eagles' Emma Gamoke who tallied all but nine of the Eagles points, going 7-9 from behind the arc. Eau Claire and La Crosse competed throughout the entire game, but the Eagles were able to extend their lead by a few points each quarter of play.
Hallee Hoeppner (Jr. – Winona, MN) led the Blugolds with 25 points and Kelsey Bakken (So. – Marshall, WI) added 14. Hoeppner also led the team in rebounds with nine. Gamoke led all scorers with 34 points, while adding 4 steals.
La Crosse's defense held the Blugolds to 29.6 percent conversion from the floor and 10 percent from behind the arc. The Eagles were able to convert 14 three-pointers in the contest, nine of them coming from Gamoke.
Eau Claire (13-10, 4-8) will now travel for their final two WIAC regular season games and will take on UW-River Falls (8-15, 2-10 WIAC) on Wednesday, February 13 at 7:00 p.m. Follow the action on Blugold Game Day or on the 'UWEC Blugolds' app on your mobile device.
