Women's Basketball takes down Ripon, 68-46

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's basketball team closed out Friday night's game with a victory over the Ripon Redhawks by a score of 68-46 to put them at 2-0 for the season.

The Blugold's offense stormed out of the gate at the start of the game with an 11-0 run where freshman Elli Carver (Fr. – Andover, MN/Coon Rapids) forced two fouls and converted all four of her free throws.  Maddie Dunathan (Sr. – Hortonville, WI) also shined during the run with two steals, two assists and two points.  

The Blugolds utilized defensive pressure to produce 13 steals throughout the game. Dunathan ended the game leading the way in steals with seven.  Hallee Hoeppner (Jr. – Winona, MN) recorded an impressive field goal percentage of 60 percent and scored a game-high of 15 points.  She was also one rebound shy of a double-double.  Kelsey Bakken and Carver also had good showings; each scoring 13 points. 

Eau Claire converted 46.2 percent of their three-point attempts and held the Redhawks to a shooting percentage of 33.3 percent from the floor.  They also out-scored the Redhawks in points off turnovers, 27-9.
