Women's Basketball tallies second-best GPA in DIII

ATLANTA (Blugolds.com) – The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced the 2017-18 Academic Top 25 Team Honor Rolls on Tuesday, with the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's basketball team earning the second-highest GPA in NCAA Division III and 11th in all divisions.

Out of the nearly 450 DIII squads in the nation, the Blugolds' 3.704 was second only to Emerson College's 3.712. UW-Green Bay led DI schools with a 3.753 while DII's Michigan Tech led all schools with a 3.796.

"We are extremely proud of our entire team for their commitment to excellence in the classroom, on the court and in our community," said Head Coach Tonja Englund. "A special thank you to our outstanding faculty at UW-Eau Claire who challenge and inspire our student-athletes to become their best on and off the court on a daily basis."

The Blugolds will kick off the 2018-19 campaign with an exhibition matchup with UW-Green Bay on Oct. 30. Follow the action all season on Blugold Game Day or on the UWEC Blugolds app.
