PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's basketball team hit the road to take on the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneers on Saturday night, beating the Pioneers, 69-61.
It was a close battle from the start as Eau Claire started the second half tied with Platteville, but they managed to outscore the Pioneers in both the third and fourth periods. On the night, the Blugolds shot 36.8 percent from beyond the arc, while also grabbing 48 rebounds to lead to second chance points.
The game's leading scorer was Teenie Lichtfuss (Sr.-Oshkosh, WI/Lourdes) with 22 points and nine rebounds. Madison Johnson (Sr.-Osceola, WI/Osceola) also contributed 13 points on the night. Erin O'Toole (So.-Plymouth, MN/Hopkins) added nine points, and pulled down 11 rebounds. Bree Meier (Jr.-Lakeville, MN/Lakeville South) also came off the bench and hit three key shots from behind the arc.
The Blugolds (10-11, 5-5 WIAC) will be back at home on Wednesday, February 10th as they host the UW-Oshkosh Titans at 7:00 p.m. in Zorn Arena.
