EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com)-The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Blugolds took on the #18 University of Wisconsin-River Falls Falcons (According to D3hoops.com) on Wednesday night, falling to the Falcons 55-60.
UW-Eau Claire came out strong in the opening minutes of play, but had a tough second quarter shooting and trailed UW-River Falls by 12 points going into the half. The Blugolds turned the game around, as they managed to out-score the Falcons 22-8 in the third period.
They appeared to gain control of the game, and the score was tied 53-53 with under a minute to play. River Falls answered and forced a turnover and scored and layup and finished the game with free throws.
The game's leading scorer was Eau Claire's Erin O'Toole (So.-Plymouth, MN/Hopkins) with 24 points and nine rebounds on the night. Arien Becker also chipped in with a game high 11 rebounds.
The Blugolds (9-11, 4-5 WIAC) will be back in action on Saturday, February 6th at 7:00pm as they hit the road to take on UW-Platteville.
