Blugold Women Fall to No. 11 Titans

OSHKOSH, Wisc. (Blugolds.com)- The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's basketball team ended their first round of conference play against the No. 11 University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Titans on Wednesday night, falling to the Titans, 65-53.

UW-Eau Claire started strong and held a one-point advantage after the first quarter, but struggled to keep the offense going in the second as the Titans took a 24-17 lead into the locker room.

The Blugolds came out firing in the second half as they chipped away at the Oshkosh lead, but key turnovers and missed rebounds lead to Titan points as they would go on to win, 65-53.

The game's leading scorer was Eau Claire's Erin O'Toole (So.-Plymouth, MN/Hopkins) with 22 points, and six blocks on the night. Teenie Lichtfuss (Sr.-Oshkosh, WI/Lourdes) also pitched in 17 points and three steals.

The Blugolds (8-10, 3-4 WIAC) will be back in action as they start the second round of WIAC conference play on Saturday night. Eau Claire will take on UW-Stout in Zorn Arena at 7:00 pm.
