Blugolds Fall to Oshkosh in WIAC Tournament

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) The UW-Eau Claire women's basketball team opened up their Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) tournament play against UW-Oshkosh, a team they had defeated in both of their match-ups earlier this season.

The Blugolds scored first, but fell behind early.

They fought back, and by half time trailed by a slim 24-27 margin. However, the momentum would not swing in their favor as the second half began.

Oshkosh came out shooting, and built a 20-point lead quickly. They would push their lead to 29 points and end up with a 65-36 win.

Defensively, the UW-Eau Claire limited the Titans' chances from the field, forcing a mere 31.6 percent shooting from the field.

However, they saw struggles themselves from the field, finishing with a 33.3 field goal percentage, missing all seven shots from behind the arc.

Courtney Lewis (Sr. Prairie du Chien, Wis.) led the way for the Blugolds, scoring 10 points to go with three rebounds and two assists.

Ellen Blacklock (So. Winona, Minn.) added another 10 points, while providing tough defense inside in the paint.

Teenie Lichtfuss (Jr. Oshkosh, Wis.), the Blugolds' leading scorer this season, managed six points, while chipping in two rebounds and two assists.

Kristin Sahr (Sr. Stillwater, Minn.) matched the team lead in rebounds with three, also adding two points and two assists, while Rachel Egdorf (Sr. Mishicot, Wis.) also added two points.

Blugolds finish their season with a 16-10 (11-5 WIAC) record.
