After winning 13 of their last 14 games heading into the postseason, the Blugolds struggled to get the bats going on Friday as the Warhawks rallied behind pitcher Stephanie Waller.

The game was scoreless for the first three innings until the Warhawks broke through for three runs in the fourth inning on a couple of Blugold errors.

UW-Eau Claire came back within two runs in the sixth inning as Sam Noetzelman (Jr. – Delano, MN) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded sending Morgan Lecheler (So. – Ithaca, WI) home to cut the lead to 3-1.

The Warhawks would add two more runs in the top of the seventh inning and the Blugolds were unable to close the gap falling 5-1.

Lauren Blasczyk (Jr. – Appleton, WI) got the start and pitched 6.2 innings for the Blugolds giving up eight hits and one earned run.

With this result, the Blugolds will now take on UW-Oshkosh tomorrow at 12 p.m. If UW-Eau Claire can get by the Titans, the Blugolds will play again right after for a right to play in the championship game on Sunday.
