Laura Raflik Named to Academic All-District Softball Team

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire softball player Laura Raflik (Jr.-Plover, Wis./Pacelli) has been selected to the 2014 Capital One NCAA Division III Academic All-District Six Softball First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

An actuarial science major, Raflik holds a 3.95 GPA.

Raflik is a pitcher and leads the Blugolds and is fourth in the WIAC with a 2.58 ERA. She has 53 strikeouts, second most on the team, pitching 81.1 innings. Raflik has appeared in the circle in 19 of the Blugolds' 38 games, starting 14 times. She holds a 9-4 overall record and has pitched six complete games.

Because she was selected to the All-District first team, Raflik is now eligible to be named to the Academic All-America squad that will be announced May 20.

In order to be eligible for the Academic All-America program, nominees must: be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials; have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale) in both undergrad and graduate work; have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at the institution and completed at least one calendar year at the institution; and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games.
