Deanna Gilane Named WIAC Position Player of the Week

MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire softball player Deanna Gilane (Jr.-South Milwaukee, Wis.) has been named this week's Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) position Player of the Week, WIAC Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations Matt Stanek announced today.

Starting six games during the week, four at first base and two at designated player, Gilane led the Blugolds in hitting with a .588 batting average.  She finished the week with 10 hits in 17 at-bats, recording four doubles and a two-run home run, which came in the top of the fifth inning in a 13-7 victory at UW-Platteville on April 6.  Gilane had a team-high eight RBI and also scored five runs, tied for third most on the team. She had a team-high 1.000 slugging percentage with 17 total bases, tied for a team-high, and finished with an on-base percentage of .636, best on the team.  In the field, she recorded 30 putouts and had one assist with just two errors for a fielding percentage of .939.
