Blugold Softball Earns NFCA Academic Honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Blugolds.com) – Six UW-Eau Claire softball players, along with the team, have earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) academic recognition for the 2012-13 season, NFCA officials recently announced.

Named NFCA Division III Scholar-Athletes were Amanda Fischer (Wausau, Wis./West), Deanna Gilane (South Milwaukee, Wis.), Emily Haluska (Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH), Emily Ruegemer (St. Cloud, Minn./Cathedral), Karen Hansen (Amery, Wis.) and Laura Raflik (Plover, Wis./Pacelli).

The award is bestowed upon any player submitted by a member coach who achieved a 3.50 grade point average or higher during the 2012-13 academic year.

Additionally, the team was recognized by being named a Division III All-Academic Team after accumulating a 3.324 GPA.
