The last time a Blugold earned NFCA Player of the Week honors was in May 2012 when Amanda Fischer (So.-Wausau, Wis./West) received recognition for her performance for the week ending April 29.

Fern and the Blugolds finished 7-1 last week with the sole loss coming against then No. 8 ranked Tufts University. In the eight games played, Fern posted four multi-hit games with her best effort coming in a 3-for-4 performance against Plymouth State with two doubles and four RBIs.

Her one home run over the eight contests came against SUNY-Geneseo in a 2-for-4 showing with three RBIs.

On the week, Fern helped the Blugolds take victories against Benedictine (3-0), Wellesley (10-4), UMass-Boston (4-0), SUNY-Geneseo (8-7), Plymouth State (15-0), Allegheny (10-2) and Ramapo (3-2).

Up next for Fern and her squad are Friday match-ups against Gustavus Adolphus and Simpson, followed by Saturday showdowns with St. Scholastica and Central.

The Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III Player of the Week is voted on by the NFCA Division III Top 25 Committee featuring eight representatives from the eight Division III softball regions. Player of the Week honors reflect performances from the previous week of play.
