UW-Eau Claire battled against unusually warm temperatures on Saturday. The men's team finished 4th with a score of 121 points with the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse winning the meet.

The Blugolds were led by Patrick Treacy (Sr. – Fall Creek WI/Eau Claire Memorial) who finished 2nd overall. Treacy was followed by teammates Anthony Dupont, (Sr. – Mendota Heights MN/Henry Sibley) 26th and Connor Dolan (Soph. – Nekoosa WI/Assumption) 31st.

Wyatt Elmer (Sr. – Mankato MN/Mankato Loyola) 37th and David Bachmeier (Jr. – Long Prairie MN/Long Prairie-Grey Eagle) 40th rounded out the top 5 for the Blugolds.

Due to the heat on Saturday, Coach Dan Schwamberger changed up the plans and had the team run the race as a workout. The Blugolds were encouraged to run together and to run smart and patient which showed in the race.

This was the first 8k of the season for the Blugold men and they did a good job of adjusting to the distance and while handling the heat.

"I think most people did a good job moving up – for some people it was their first 8k and the heat got to them a little bit but yeah overall I thought it was a good first race for both teams," said Schwamberger.

The men's cross-country team has a week off for training and recovery before racing again on Friday, September 28th at their own Blugold Invite located at Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax.
