NEW ORLEANS (Blugolds.com) – Josh Thorson (Jr.-Plymouth, MN/Wayzata of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's cross country team was named National Athlete of the Week, announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday.
Thorson won the Division III Pre-National Invitational hosted by UW-Oshkosh on Saturday, finishing with a time of 24.17.1; seven seconds ahead of the runner-up.
The Blugold men won the team title as well in the race that featured 400 runners with Darin Lau (So.-Eau Claire, WI/Immanuel Lutheran) and Ryan Mugan (Howards Grove, WI) finishing in third and fourth place with times of 24:39 and 24:40, respectively.
