Lueck & Kornack earn WIAC Performers of the Meet honors

MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) has announced its award recipients for the 2019 men's outdoor track & field season based on voting by the league coaches. The Blugolds claimed both the Track and Field Performer of the Meet honors.
 
Kyler Lueck (Jr. Germantown, WI/WI Lutheran) was selected the Track Performer of the Meet from the WIAC Championship (presented by Culver's), while David Kornack (Sr. – Edgar, WI) was tabbed the Field Performer of the Meet.
 
Lueck's selection marks the fifth time a Blugold has received the honor. He was victorious in the 800-meter run and 1,500-meter run with times of 1:51.62 and 3:49.48, respectively. His prelim time of 1:50.72 in the 800-meter run established a conference meet record and was the best in the conference this season. His time in the 1,500-meter run set a facility record at the UW-Platteville Track & Field Complex. Lueck currently ranks fourth in the nation in the 800m and second in the 1,500m.
 
Kornack is the third individual in program archives to collect the award. He won the shot put with a conference meet record heave of 63-0 (19.20m). He placed third in the discus with a mark of 161-11 (49.35m). The senior currently holds the top mark in the nation in the shot put and is ranked 15th in the discus.

The duo also earned Performer of the meet honors for the 2019 NCAA Indoor Championships while Kornack was also named the USTFCCCA Field Athlete of the Year for the indoor season.
