Men's Outdoor Track & Field Finishes Fifth at Phil Esten Challenge

LA CROSSE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's outdoor track & field team came in fifth place out of 12 teams at UW-La Crosse's Phil Esten Challenge today.

The Blugolds scored 75 points while UW-La Crosse won with 205. UW-Oshkosh took second with 121 and UW-Stout was third with 89.

The best results for the Blugolds were two runner-up finishes while claiming a total of nine top-five finishes.

In the heptathlon, Brandon Zarnoth (Jr.-Appleton, Wis./North) took second with 6,735 points.

Matt Dietlin (Fr.-Fitchburg, Wis./Verona Area) came in second place in the high jump with a leap of 1.90 meters (6-2.75).

Next weekend the Blugolds will compete at three different meets, the Drake Relays and Gina Relays on Friday and Saturday, along with the Saint Mary's Open on Saturday.
