Kornack earns National Field Athlete of the Year honors

NEW ORLEANS (Blugolds.com) – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Wednesday that Blugold David Kornack (Sr. – Edgar, WI) has been named the National Field Athlete of the Year for the 2019 indoor season.

USTFCCCA Release

Recently named the USTFCCCA Field Performer of the Meet for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships, Kornack left his mark in the shot put.

The senior won the national title with a meet record throw of 19.83m (65-0¾), which is also the farthest an NCAA DIII athlete had thrown in the past 36 years.

Kornack re-wrote the records books, as he now owns five of the top eight marks in the NCAA DIII history (No. 2, No. 4, No. 5, No. 6 and No. 8). This is the first time a Blugold has been named National Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year and is also the fifth Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) athlete in a row to earn this honor as the conference has won the honor every year since 2015.
