Women's Track & Field wins UW-Platteville Triangular, Men finish 2nd

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire track and field teams competed at the UW-Platteville Triangular Saturday, with the women placing first and the men finishing in second.

The Blugold women tallied 158 points while UW-Stevens Point finished second (92) and UW-Platteville (49) third.

Kelsey Worachek (Sr. – Appleton, WI/Xavier), Amy Chen (Fr. – Mayville, WI) and Logan Fahey (So. – Belleville, WI) went 1-2-3 in the 60-meter dash, clocking in at 7.98, 8.15 and 8.28, respectively.

Sarah Glidden (Sr. – Greenville, WI/Hortonville) took first in the 400-meter dash (58.53) and the 60-meter hurdles (9.29) while the 4x400 relay team of Lizzy Keena (Fr. – Wisconsin Rapids, WI/Lincoln), Glory Hecker (So. – Stone Lake, WI/Hayward Center), Tommie Brenner (Jr. – Reedsburg, WI) and Ashleigh Buergi (Sr. – Green Bay, WI/Bay Port) won with a time of 4:02.98.

Mel Becker (Sr. – Osseo, WI/homeschooled) and Morgan Marek (Jr. – Muskego, WI) took the top two spots in the mile, finishing in 5:13.97 and 5.16.13 while Jillian Moss (So. – Fitchburg, WI/Oregon) and Lizz Ottusch (Jr. – Delafield, WI/Kettle Moraine) did the same in the high jump with marks of 1.62m (5'3.75").

JoHannah Theisen's (Sr. – Eau Claire, WI/Regis) toss of 13.54 (44'5.25") won the shot put while Brianne Johnsrud (Jr. – Dodgeville, WI) won the weight throw with a 14.96m (49'1") mark.

On the men's side, Stevens Point won the triangular with 123.5 points. Eau Claire's 94 points put them in second while Platteville was third with 84.5 points.

The Blugolds went 1-2-3 in the 200-meter with Kyle Groven (So. – Pine Island, MN) taking the top spot (23.17) followed by Jordan Lijewski (Fr. – Roseville, MN) (23.24) and Dawsen Cossalter (Fr. – Esko, MN) (23.26).

Dylan Cooper (Jr. - Holmen, WI) won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.52 while David Kornack (Sr. – Edgar, WI) won the shot put with a mark of 16.54m (54'3.25").

Groven, KJ Munn (So. – Bayport, MN/St. Croix Prep), Hunter Henk (So. – Beldenville, WI/River Falls) and Aaron Zmolek (So. – Holmen, WI) took first in the 4x400 relay (3:28.39).

Next up for Eau Claire is the Warren Bowlus Open on Jan. 26-27, hosted by UW-Stout.
