Track and Field Finishes Strong at Blugold Triangular

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire track and field teams hosted the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and the University of Wisconsin-Platteville at the McPhee Center on Saturday with several Blugolds taking top honors.

Results

The Blugold men distance runners picked up where they left off after the cross country national championship, with the Blugolds finishing 1-2-3 in the mile run. Nick Petersson won the event with a time of 4:12.73 and was followed by Josh Thorson  (4:13.01) and Darin Lau (4:15.29).

On the women's side, Clara Williamson won the mile with time of 5:18.10 while Katryna Williams  was third with a time of 5:23.91.

Brandon Christnovich won the men's 400, clocking in at 49.94 while teammates Jimmy Paske and William LaJeunesse finished right behind him at 50.39 and 51.28, respectively. Zach Wawrzyniakowski was third in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:59.26.

Jessie Reineck and Jess Rupnow took the top spots in the women's 400, recording times of 58.28 and 1:00.28, respectively.

In the 55-meter hurdles, Stephanie Frempong-Longdon was the top Blugold finisher, placing second with a time of 8.95 while Tommie Brenner was third with a time of 9.02. For the men, Cody Andrus and Luke Praschek finished second (8.02) and third (8.04).

Blugold alum and national champion Carly Fehler won the women's 55-meter dash and 200-meter dash, with times of 7.15 and 25.81 while Kelsey Worachek was second in both with times of 7.35 and 26.88.

In the men's 3000-meter run, Brendon Paucek and Patrick Treacy finished second and third for Eau Claire, clocking in at 8:50.48 and 8:52.79, respectively. In the women's race, Melody Becker finished third with a time of 10:58.64.

Eau Claire won the men's and women's high jump, with Matt Dietlin winning the event for the men (6-05.50) and Sarah Glidden for the women (5-8.50). Dylan Cooper was second for the men at 6-1.50 and Lizz Ottusch was third for the women at 5-4.25. Dietlin also placed third in the pole vault with a vault of 15-5.50.

Marina Eggen won the women's long jump with a leap of 16-7.25 while Frempong-Longdon was second in the triple jump with a leap of 34-7.75.

Alex Mess was the men's weight throw with a toss of 58-08.00 while Sam Anderson won the women's event was a throw of 54-8.00. Anderson was also second in the women's shot put with a throw of 40-8.75.

Former Blugold national champion Roger Steen won the men's shot put with a throw of 59-9.50 while Mess was second at 52-04.75.

The Blugolds will be back in action Friday and Saturday as they compete in the Warren Bowlus Multi held in Menomonie.
